Hi all,
I am trying to find a replacement power leads for a USB hard drive caddy I once bought. I am close to buying another caddy but thought that you might be able to help me with what this type of connector is called so I can try and find a power supply that will work.

What is that power type called?
Thanks,
Dan

It will probably be easier and cheaper to buy another caddie, they aren't that expensive.
If the caddie is the same as some of mine it needs a power supply that can output 5V and 12V at the same time.
This one might work

you will have to ask someone who knows about this subject and has access to your caddie.
The power supply above is rated the same as my lacie one but a bigger hard might need a higher rated power supply.Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive0 -
looks like a 6 pin mini din connector.
Is there not a website for the manufacturerMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
I think it's a ps/2 connector - same as used for a mouse. I've used caddies with this power system in the past but never been too keen on them as I prefer a dedicated power supply. They only use a 5v supply, same as USB connectors. No idea where you can get the adapter required though, but a quick Google might track one down..0

Yeah I am leaning towards new caddy to be honest.
That one has too many pins and they seem round/too big. Thanks anyway!neilwoods wrote:looks like a 6 pin mini din connector.

I think you are right. There are (It is an ICYBOX) websites but it just lists things as obscure as "power supply" etc rather than anything meaningful.Tallymanjohn wrote:I think it's a ps/2 connector - same as used for a mouse. I'll check it out - thanks.0 -

It lists the power supply as A/C even though on model photographs it says DC IN:
External Power Supply A/C included (100~240v)0 -

looking more closely it has only 5 pins not the 6 my icybox has, but whether this makes any difference I don't know as icy box has 2 No. Ground pins, 2 No. +5Volt pins and 2 No. 12Volt pins.Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive0
