i was previously doing a telesales job, then my boss spoke to me and said we want you to still do telesales but we want you to be in charge of 2 fundraisers and book appts for them in there diary as well as doing admin and other stuff
he didnt say it was a promotion but said " see it as a promotion" and there is more work to do then my previous job and it is an entirely different job and i said are my targets still the same as before she said no because its an entirely different job
anyway i got my payslip today and was disapointed to see my payslip was the same. i dont want to ask my boss as he can be quite mouthy and is always stressed out
who else could i ask, or do you think i was being prosumptious that i would get more money

I know it doesn't help much now, but I'd not agree to do a job with more responisibility etc without talking about the money.
I think it was a little bit hopeful to assume they'd give you a raise.
I'd suggest talking to the boss/hr and saying "i've taken on more responsibility etc, can we review pay?"0 -
Without discussing a pay rise at the time of discussing extra duties I think you were optimistic to believe that you would just get one.
You really have 3 options open to you:
1) Talk to your boss either about a payrise or dropping the additional duties
2) See it as something that will look good on your CV as taking on additional duties when applying for your next true promotion/ new job
3) LeaveAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

I was once promoted from Research Assistant to Research Fellow. Pretty good for a lad without a PhD. It would mean lots of new responsibilities and duties.
No payrise though.
3 weeks later I found a new job and left as soon as I could
Do yourself a favour, if you can do this new promoted job elsewhere and they'll pay you for that level, then go. Otherwise, wait a while and ask about a payrise.0 -
Seems like you have had the wool pulled over your eyes - tbh, I would have checked out terms and conditions prior to agreeing to doing it - any employer worth their salt would not mind this.
I would approach the boss by saying that payroll seem to have made an error as you are being paid the same as previously - surely this can't be right - at this point your boss has to either confirm or refute.
If there are no extra £££ for the added responsibility it just highlights what an amateur set up this is, and so then you need to be looking for something else.0 -
I don't agree with any of the previous posters.
You know the game, you know what sales is about, and you know what will impress your boss. Show you can do the business for a couple of months and hit the right figures. Then approach him and discuss your current pay rate and what you both feel your new job is worth now you've shown you can handle it. Be realistic when you discuss it with him.
It may be that this position is a purely developmental one, ie it really carries only a very little extra responsibility, or no extra responsibility, but they need someone sensible and reliable to do it. In this case you just have to take the experience and make the most of it for the purposes of your future career. I don't know without knowing more about the ins and outs of it. But either way, if no pay rise was mentioned, and it wasn't a promotion (and you weren't told that it was), you were rather optimistic in expecting to get any more dosh.0 -
And here's another consideration. Your targets have changed - I wonder if this means that you may potentially earn LESS pay?? If you had the opportunity to be rewarded for exceeding targets in the past, is this opportunity still open to you? (If not, you've a great negotiating point here for more pay
