Not very happy with my smart TV (Sony. Great picture though.))
It's so long winded doing anything. Boots up like a computer, and takes about 10 seconds plus before you can do anything, and, it's takes 5 or 6 seconds to change channels. Find I hardly use the 'smart' facility, as the Virgin cable box does it all anyway. (iPlayer etc)
And the thought of glasses to watch TV ...... NO way!
How many spare pairs of glasses do you have to keep handy, for family, or, when you have company?
How many spare batteries handy?
"Come round to my house, and we'll have a few tins and watch the match. Or, come round to mine, and we'll watch the Royal wedding together and have a barbe' "
Doomed...... 3D is doomed!0 -
The 3D experience is entirely down to the size of the screen - bigger is definitely better. I promise, it's difficult to appreciate how awesome the football is until you've witnessed it in true 3D HD beauty!! - I bought a Samsung ue46c900z from Purewell.co.uk - If you can afford the price, you wont look back.Mark Mead0

3D TV will be a damp squib in the same way as 3D films in the cinema are already.
So I guess big discounts will be available as the manufacturers/store try to shift their stock
Just my opinion of course. (and Dr K's):DThat gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I would urge you to avoid the Samsung UExxD6000 Series of TVs. It's been recently discovered that they display 3D in SD not HD. It's a design defect which cannot be fixed.0

Can I just ask where you got this information from? I have a D6900 and have been really pleased with the 3D on it. If is this is the case then I want to look into and see if I can what I can do about it. Hate being ripped off lol

Lots of 3d content is in 'half of HD' resolution. Don't expect to see that in the marketing guff. Look at the Sky 3d channel on a 2d TV to see what I mean. There are different 3d systems, but for broadcast TV, those 2 pictures are for your left and and right eye. The TV flashes each of those pictures across the whole screen alternately, whilst you wear glasses that block out the right image on the left eye, then the left image on the right eye. It happens so fast that your brain sees in 3d since that's how your eyes work.0

No flashing on my 3D TV as its passive a far better system IMO and glasses cost me £1 a time

I dont think 3D tv is doomed next year all LG tvs will be 3D and even this year almost all of samsung tvs are 3D so even if you dont want 3D it will be forced on you when you buy new tv.
As for the samsung 6100 I did think the 3D was good but not as good as the 7000/8000 series iv seen.
When I bought 40 inch 6100 it was refurb on ebay for 410 but they fetch about 529 so tv is still good price for entry level 3D tv I bought rechargble 3d glasses think you can get them on ebay direct from korea for 35 pounds i paid the extra 5o punds for the 3700 glasse but you can get the no recharge ones for 25 pounds or you could go for LG passive tvs where glasses cost under 5 pounds.0
