Recommend a broker & solicitor - London?

Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help.
Looking at 75% LTV interest only mortgages on a property value of £250k. I have had a look at a few websites and HSBC / ING seem to do some good deals (apart from ING's £1k arrangement fee!). I was wondering if anyone could recommend a broker? We have approached Alexander Hall, however, I have heard nightmare stories about them.
Secondly, I'm a first time buyer so I was wondering whether anyone could recommend a decent conveyancing solicitor in London? I don't really have much of an idea how much to estimate for legal fees - £1k?
Thanks

You could use London & Country - they're telephone based but they're whole of market and fees free, very knowledgable and could be worth trying
I was going to post a link but I can't yet - if you type London & Country into Google it should come up~~~~~~~~~~
If you’re generally healthy and aged between 17 and 65, do something amazing....

I don't think you need a broker unless your situation is complicated. I'm in a similar situation to you, FTB, 250k property, difference is I only have 20% deposit. I went on to ING's website and got an AIP for 200k (which is just a bit over 3x my gross salary) in less than 10 minutes.
My advice would be to check your credit score. You can do this by signing up for a free trial at CreditExpert.co.uk and Checkmyfile.co.uk. If you have an excellent score, then you should have no problem getting a mortgage from ING Direct yourself.
Re solicitors, my experience is slightly limited. I did instruct a solicitor from compareandconvey.co.uk for a purchase which recently fell through, but the firm I instructed was very good, so I'm planning to use them again for my next purchase.0 -
the interest only element may be a problem though. its much stricter now and you might need to proove a repayment vehicle.0
