Conditional spend coupons/vouchers accepted at Tesco's

Hi, I've been refused Aldi's £5 off £30 coupon at Tesco Copdock. After contacting customer service that's what they said:

Dear Sebastian

Thank you for contacting us.

I am very sorry that you are unhappy with our decision to stop accepting competitor coupons in our stores and I would like to explain the reasons behind this.

We have carried out a lot of research into finding out what our customers want when they go shopping, and the feedback shows that one of the key things is lower prices. We are very committed to helping our customers spend less at the checkout, so we have taken this feedback on board and have already dropped the price of 3000 popular lines.

We would not have been able to invest so heavily in our Big Price Drop without reviewing some of our current offers and unfortunately, the acceptance of competitor coupons was something that we could not sustain. However, we believe that our customers will welcome cheaper prices over being able to use an occasional competitor coupon.

From now on, we accept all Tesco and supplier/product coupons as long as you have purchased the product, and we will continue to issue and accept Tesco Price Check coupons on the rare occasion that your shopping is cheaper at Asda.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I hope this information is helpful.

Kind Regards

Julie Inwood

Usual rubbish from Tesco re why they are stopping them - due to the BIG PRICE FLOP!

Tesco have issued a 'Team 5' to all stores that they are stopping taking competitor coupons, but from the end of this month. Sorry they fobbed you off - I used as Asda one an Aldi one, Sainsbury's one and Co-op with no problem at my local tesco last night. I did check first with the till supervisor as I had heard they were stopping, but he confirmed it was the end of this month.

They dont say that some items went up in price before a price cut and some items haven't been lowered an some may have increased. Its all clever marketing, if anything is to be learnt supermarkets can never be trusted least off all Tescos there the biggest con merchants

At least the likes of Lidl/Aldi dont vary there goods day to day nor have bogof's just cheap prices every day

By the way this isnt the right forum

:wall:Tesco's till wouldn't accept Sainsbury's conditional spend voucher today  Lady on till said that it had been happening all morning despite them being told they would be accepted until Monday. Went to CS and lovely lady confirmed that as from Monday they wouldn't be accepting competitors vouchers. She said she was happy to scan and give me funds from till as she felt I was entitled to them as still in date, but no, coupon still wouldn't scan. Manager sorted it in the end and they gave me the money with no problems  What a carry on! I don't know about you, but I've noticed price increases on items I usually buy, not reductions  Tut Tut Mr T!
    :p
  • How bizarre of them, since Tesco Copdock used to have a big banner in the car park saying they accepted the Sainsburys conditional spend coupons. Seems like they like to pick and choose the coupons to accept.
  • Hi, I used a £6.00 off £30 sainsburys voucher in Tescos Copdock on Friday with no problems. But if T's are no longer going to take them then I shall just shop at Sainsburys for the next 3 weeks whilst I have these vouchers :D
  • I have got a asda £5 off £40 spend, I was planning to use it at tesco's, however now I will be shopping at asda's again. Also when shopping at Morrisons/Sainsburys/asdas I find most of the staff friendly, at tesco I find it the other way round!!!

Just been refused using a £4 off £20 from Sainsbury in Tesco. Really pis sed off - the "big price drop" is sheet and double points were the only other good thing about tesco. might have to use morrisons or sainsburys now!

  • I will just go to the conditional spend store as I am lucky in that I have all major sm in my area, however it will be hard on those who only have a Tesco. The big price drop is rubbish IMO.

You need to complain to HO customer services. Some Tesco's unfortunately have misunderstood the directive. Yesterday was the last day for taking competitors spend and save coupons/vouchers. Some have interpreted it as being every voucher!
