kitty - sorry to hear about your mum. It must be difficult for you without christmas looming.
Only thing I can think of is a sort of 'breakfast/afternoon tea' box with different teas or coffees, biscuits like shortbread, nice mug,(one of those with matching coaster and little tray) maybe serviettes,(my mum spilt crumbs everywhere).
Sorry.........can't think of anything else. Good luck:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Thanks mary-op

This is the second year Mum has been in care, she can't remember my name or the fact I'm her daughter but knows I go to see her.

I like the idea of her own mug, as the care staff would keep it safe for tea time.

  • if shes in a care home then why not something that could make life more comfortable for her, like nice new pillows? a nice lap blanket?

OO I didn't think of new pillows, I'm not sure a lap blanket would be her though as she wanders around (usually in other peoples rooms)
    Thanks xxx

For an elderly lady with Alzheimer I recommend a photo book with pictures of her family, specially old pictures (which may want to scan in). It is a great opportunity to browse it with her and let talk about the things she remembers.

The photo book test contains some useful information worth knowing before preparing a photo book.

Thanks BenjaG, we did that last year for her birthday, but recently she has started ripping up photo's and books, as she doesn't recoginse anyone in them, even though most of the pics are of her and her parents (named etc) xxx
