I must say that i have never heard of WIV before! are they are a marketing company seeking email addresses?
  • I’ve got one on my desk too
I assume it is a scam but can’t see where the scam is
Unless it is “Oh we ran out of binoculars – we have travel vouchers instead”

How small is the writing on the wine bottles that they need to supply binoculars? LOL
  • In for a penny in for a pound.
Ive sent it back - not given any bank details so they cant rob me of anything anyway

hubby got this in the post this morning, it went straight in the shredder!
  • I posted it back – it was only about 10 tick boxes – no other details they couldn’t get from the phone book.

Only sent it to see where the scam was!!

Obviously I ticked the boxes telling them I had a large wine cellar and never spend less than 10 on a bottle – so if they send samples – they better be good!!

    GrandaIfTheTight,

Have you received the sample wines and the free binoculars. I have got the letter today, just wonder what I should do with it, send it back or bin it. Your experience will be very help for making the decision
  • Nope didn’t get anything
Guessing you only get something depending on how you answer the questions
    A.k.a. scam !
  • My mother is 85 and and filled out the questionaire and returned it.... She told me about it and my first thought was scam !! the next day i googled WIV and came up with a number of threads on this forum. I told my Mum that whilst it is not a scam, it is a sort of FOOT in DOOR method of sales. where you get a visit from a nice Gentleman/or Lady to deliver Binoculars and allow you to sample wine.
I called Pieroth wines who seem to be involved and said that I was not to keen on them calling on my Mother and explained her age and circumstances.
I was told that this was not a problem and if my mother explained to the Nice Man who phone that they would not come round.
Upshot is that Nice Man would not take no for answer and is still coming round.
While this this is technically not illegal it is, in my view dispicable.

I have made plans to be there to moniter the visit and will report back on here.
It may be all innocent but I havce my doubts.

I would tell him if he comes round he is not getting in, you did the right thing and tried to cancel, its his wasted journey if he shows up after you have told him you aren't interested
