EQUIFAX' Online Statutory Credit Report Issue

in Credit cards
Hi, first time poster but have used this site many times for its invaluable information over the years.
Last time I ordered my report from them was just over a year ago via post, but today I decided to try the £2 online statutory credit report just to keep up to date with it.
Problem was that while filling it in, it came up with a question regarding a store or credit card I may or may not have had or continue to use in 2000 (I think it was kind of like a security question), for which I answered 'None of the above'. I probably should have given the name of the card I had at the time but because I no longer use credit cards anyway, I didn't feel the question was applicable.
Anyway a message came up saying the service was unavailable and I was basically taken back to the start page. They still charged me for that and I was wondering how to go about getting my refund - yes £2 is not much but if you can imagine how many others this will potentially happen to and the amount of money they make from it, is quite frightening. Not off me they're not

Are you sure they haven't just authorised the payment for £2 but not actually taken it?
I tried to get my Equifax credit report online a few months ago, but they couldn't verify everything online and so wanted me to phone up to provide more information. I never got round to phoning them, so didn't receive my credit report. While the £2 charge initially disappeared from my "available" balance, it dropped off a few days later and I was not charged. They had only taken the £2 as an authorisation, to check the card works, they hadn't charged me.This is everybody's fault but mine.0 -
The £2 will probably get re-credited (if it was ever taken). I doubt they will rip you off.0

I think you are probably right as I tried another credit report agency and they 'seemingly' took the money out as well, but stated I wouldn't be charged. So thanks for this!
