I wanna get some plastic moneybags

Options
OK, here's an odd request.

Where do you get those plastic bags which you put money in?

You know, the type that coins arrive in.

Can you get these from the bank?

You could ask at the bank - better bet may be your local pub, they probably bin loads of them each week.
  • We get ours from the Halifax or I'm sure any bank would give you some.

    Happy counting your pennies.

I think you can get them with banks, if you say you need them to deposit coins, at least I used to be able to, then they weigh the bags, I really hope they still do, my boyfriend was asking me if they had one of those coin counters near (whilst eyeing up my sandwich bag of coins) I said, I can count it myself for free, so better do it :) hopefully there's enough for a drink if nothing else. If you are taking them to a bank though make sure you sort them how they want you to sort them (think it's normally printed on the front) e.g 100 1p coins per bag or something

Banks or Post Office should have loads you can have.
  • I usually get some from the Post Office. Banks like the Abbey limit you in how much you can deposit in change (I think it is £5 for them). They apparently take up a lot of space.

Just ask at the bank for the money bags they give them to you.

Banks will only accept full unmixed bags. (Im not 100% on the amount is a 20p bag
    £1 £2 - £20
    50p, 20p - £10
    10p, 5p - £5
    2p, 1p - £1

If you are depositing the money in to an account the bank shouldnt refuse any amount being handed over especially if it is your own bank. If your not a customer banks will refuse to just take the coin and hand over notes but your own bank may do this if they wont deposit the coins and make a withdrawl for the amount.

If your having problems take them to a small business, paper shops etc that normally deal in coins. They have pay to get change from banks and are usually greatfull if you offer it to them.
  • I'd say only go to the bank you bank with
  • Little John - the reason that a cashier shouldn't just swap coins for notes as there should an audit trail of everything that goes through a cashiers till. Doesn't stop them paying the money in and then withdrawinmg it after though

Cheers for all the suggestions. I asked at Lloyds (my bank) for some moneybags when I banked some cash and they gave a whole load of them.
