DIY selection box

Options
Im thinking of making my kids their own selection boxes with chocolate that they love.

have bought my daughter a Disney princess tin from Home Bargains for 79p and Im going to fill it with Milky bar buttons, freddos, Crunchies small dairy milks.

My 9yr old son is trickier as I cannot find him a tin at the moment but will fill his with freddos, aero, galaxy ripple, toblerone etc etc.

Im sick of throwing ( or eating lol) the leftover chocolate that nobody wants so this year am going to give this a try x

If you swop some of the chocolate for jellys or lollies it becomes even more cost effective as well as more variety for the children. Maybe you could also add some stickers to go with the tin or the odd pencil or other small gift to go with the theme etc etc

    Ha ha :rotfl:
  • I'm doing something similar although I haven't got a tin or box yet. I have been buying the multi pack choc bars in tesco when they're on offer and hidden them well so I don't scoff them before christmas.

I saw this when I went to town ... and shocked at £13 that people would by them instead of making them !!

I've done this for a number of years now. The idea first came to me when DS was little and he had umpteen selection boxes and I emptied them all into a gift bag. He also loved the 10p bags of sweets, chews, lollies etc - so I started buying a gift bag and filling it with those. It's much nicer to have a 'personalised' present. I was trying to think of a present for my Goddaughters older sister - this has given me some ideas! Cheers!

I made my own chocolate explosion last year. I pack a box with polystyrene cover in fancy paper then put a bar b que stick up bars of sweets, eg curly wurlys fudge, choccie bars - then staple curly ribbon to the top of the sweets and they all cascade down. I have cellophane scrunched up at the bottom of the box and stand the sweets up in the box. Its like a flower arrangement. Looks great. People thought I had bought them. Google chocolate explosion.

    Brilliant idea !:T
Just had a clear out in the kitchen and I've got one of the old fashioned sweet jars and not known what to do with it.
Think I'll fill it up for grandson. Thanks:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

OP . that's a brilliant idea. I've just been to HB's and bought stuff to fill a fancy bag (that I already have)!
