Sneak Preview of the NEW FlightChecker

For most of this year we've been rebuilding the FlightChecker from scratch. Its job is primarily to find you the cheapest prices. We're now in testing and would love your feedback. Here it is to try...

We hope it's a mammoth improvement with heightened functionality. It's a working model, so to compare it to the current version see the Flightchecker tool.

New Features Include:
  • Prices for return flights in total
  • A variety of new views
  • A host of 'I'll go anywhere' searches (eg, city break, ski holiday, beach holiday)
  • Includes budget airline added extras
  • Automatically finds flights picked on the airlines websites
What we'd like your feedback on

Anything and everything about the tool's functionality. What works for you? What doesn't? Have you spotted any glitches or bugs? Are there any other features you think should be included?

Thing that aren't finished yet
  • The Editorial isn't done yet. No texts and important warnings to ensure it works smoothly so people don't get caught out are in yet (so always double check yourself before working).
  • The design isn't finished. The look hasn't had its final polish yet.
  • Some flight times are a long time out of date. With some airlines the tool will only update after people have searched - it requires a critical mass, and as we're only in testing we don't have that yet.
Any help would enable us to make this a better tool for you to use when we launch.

Thanks in advance

Martin

  • Please include flights to Australia and New Zealand!
  • I just got prices for Liverpool to Ams, but had to type in all prices.

The graph is great, however when looking at the grid its not user friendly to have 1day trip etc, so I am sat here trying to work out which day I would return on if I took a 4 day trip etc. Much clearer if it said Tuesday 6th. Not rocket science to work out I know, but easier at a glance.

Compared it to the real easyjet site, and the luggage estimate is out by a considerable amount, at £51 each way when it should be £18 return.

Hope that helps! Will play around later when I get the chance.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before
  • It would be good to have some more price ranges in there - there's £5, £10, £20, £30, £50 & £100 which all come into the 'cheap' return flight category but then the next category jumps to £200.

If I'm looking for a cheap flight to anywhere sunny then £120 (for example) is cheap but £200 is not and there's no option to search for flights in bewtween the £100 and £200 bracket.

Is it possible to enter a value rather than dropdown pre-selected options?
  • Quick look through on flights I usually book and all seems straight forward, I like the filters for credit/debit card and baggage options that makes a difference when deciding on two companies. I note that Ireland is listed as republic and not under I, maybe a politically correct move on your part but it is usually found under I for Ireland. I am pretty IT savvy and can navigate around a site fairly well, I noticed that there is no 'New Search' or 'Start Over' icon that would help novices abort a quote and start over. When flight selected it sends you to the airline site to book but notice the price was different and assume that is the baggage and admin fees that go on at end to make total price, however I would expect the checker to take into account promotions by airline and alter the price at booking? If less than original checker no problem but if more then it may be criticised. Will there be an app for that? I would use it.
Well done, look forward to using it in the future.

    Not impressed but early days.

The search didn't find any beach holidays at all and when I increased price it found one - to Berlin , if you please! "Which way is the beach, bitte? "

I'd love to be able to pick a number of destination airports. I have a place in Spain, and I can fly to Alicante or Murcia or even Valencia at a push.

Sometimes I want to go to the Costa de la Luz, so I can fly to Seville or Jerez or Malaga etc. etc. At the moment I can pick either one airport, or all airports in Spain.

Basically I'd like to be able to multi-select destination airports.

Thanks, the filters for rates and luggage options are useful and probably exclusive to this site but two features on these flight sites that I find very helpful are the flexible dates calender that kayak shows and the drop down feature that adjusts itself to show which places the flights go to. For instance, if I do a search leeds/bradford > venice treviso, if there aren't any flights to that particular airport, I'd rather know it when I do the search than wait for the results to come up with nothing. And a search history feature would be complete the site for me.

I liked the options to fly from different cities for different rates shown on the search. It is interestingly and beaitfully designed.
