Nikon D3100

Hi there

I'm planning on buying one of these for my Husband for his birthday but have no idea what is a good deal and what isn't. I'm quite new to using cashback and vouchers so just wondering if anyone has got a good deal recently or has any advice?

He doesn't know I'm getting it and normally he would do this kind of purchase!

I think he wants an extra lense and bag with it too - don't want to let on I'm getting it so trying not to ask too much!

Hope someone can help!

You can read some reviews here

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-VBA280K001-D3100-18-55vr-Kit/dp/B00403MA4M

Check this one has the same things included, if so, it is cheaper

DP Review is here if you want to check the different lens options, or to ask in their forum

Hopefully someone will post with the cashback details

The Nikon 3100 kit (3100 body plus 18-55 VR lens) is selling for about £399 (give or take a few pence) almost everywhere including high street shops such as Jessops and LCE. Remarkably, the 3100 body alone usually sells for more than this!

If you do decide to buy him an extra lens (i.e. 55-200 zoom) then please make sure that you get a VR version - I found Amazon to be the cheapest source for the 55-200 VR lens.
Old dog but always delighted to learn new tricks!
  • I recently got a D3100 - £399 with the kit lens seems to be the best price just now. It's a great camera - you will be very popular!

Thank you so much everyone! Off to look through the links now. Why can't he just ask for socks? ;)

Simply Electronics are based in Hong Kong which means that the product you order may be a grey import and you won't be covered by UK consumer laws like the Sale of Goods Act and the Distance Selling Regulations. In their terms and conditions they state that they pay all UK taxes on your behalf which is a good thing. More worryingly though, elsewhere in the Ts and Cs, they state in block capitals ' YOU, AND NOT SIMPLYELECTRONICS.NET, ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING ANY UNAUTHORIZED AMOUNTS BILLED TO YOUR CREDIT CARD BY A THIRD PARTY.

Comments on Web of Trust seem to indicate that Simply Electronics are very slow to deliver products.
