Virgin phone calls

I had a telephone call from Virgin yesterday.... Had a missed call earlier on in the week too.

I have had an account with them for some time, my card got to it's expiry date and they never re issued (they said they did a credit check and I am no longer eligible for their credit card) My limit at one stage was around £9000, not my balance though. I used to make larger payments every month until I was off work through maternity and then off long term sick (so my money dropped)

Don't know if anyone is able to advise as they want to pass my account onto another company. They were rather rude when I said that I did not want it passed on as I will be making extra payments soon... ( in order of balance owed they will be after Sainsburys (hope to be gone by xmas) and then the Egg (hope to be gone by April).

I pay the minimum payment of £106 a month and the interest is approx £70 so even with only making minimum payments this one is being chipped at rather nicely, I have never missed a payment, why do they want to do this?

It's not being chipped at rather nicely at all, it will take you years and years to repay if you only pay the minimum balance.
Why, exactly, are they passing the debt on, if you are paying the minimum balance? It doesn't make sense.
  • Hi and thanks for your reply,

It is being chipped at much better than my Sainsburys card which only goes down by just 20p a month, this one i will be starting the additional payments with this month and should be gone before new year.... It will not take years as I am finally in a position to start making monthly additional payments and I am doing this in the order on my signature.

I am really confused too as to why they are wanting to pass it on too as I am paying and will continue to make the minimum payments until it is gone (once I start making the additional payments from May)

I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and why?
  • I hope someone else will come along and answer this question, cus I find it all rather odd.
The only thing I can think of, is that they are aware of how much you owe with other creditors, and have twigged they're not top priority, therefore sending in a collection company.
