maternity pay entitlements

Hi,
I am thinking changing my job soon, and registering myself as a limited company. It is my understanding that if i do this i will effectively be self employed. I am not pregnant nor do i plan to be in next few months, however, should i get pregnant while self employed i was wondering whether i would be entitled to any maternity pay from anywhere. I assumed that if self employed i wouldnt be entitled to anything because i work for myself, but a friend of my thinks i would still be entitled to something as i would still pay taxes and NI. Can anyone help?
