Ohh why is my Bankruptcy just messing up the people I care for, so now my dad for those wont don’t know me is terminally ill with cancer he phoned up the bank today as the home insurance is due for renewal on Friday, so he calls them up and the dredged question, Are you or anyone that lives in the property bankrupt, yes my son. Puts him on hold comes back sorry Mr Battyboimatt's dad our under writers wont insure you and oh by the way your existing policy is cancelled and terminated from like now.
So of course I have been trying to help get home insurance quotes as now we have no cover knowing my luck we will be burgled tonight even went onto the Co’operative website go through everything then at the end gets a Quote on £272 then not until you go to buy it does it ask the proper questions, oh we can’t quote you online you will have to call.
So I go online to a price comparison site, enter all the details and even declare that yes have had insurance refused or cancel, yes someone is bankrupt, searches brings up three quotes on been Saga £200 great my dad thinks, goes to the saga site, checks the details are right then once again press the buy now option, and the questions again state anyone been bankrupt or insurance cancelled then we can’t quote will have to phone.
!!!!!! my dad is now worrying that the quotes are going to shoot up after these prices and what’s the point of a comparison site to ask those questions then submit them with the yes to come back with quotes that then say they can’t quote online. Everywhere is now shut for the evening and now my dad is stressed, I’m stressed and I feel like just throwing myself off a bridge, my life is already a waste of space and worthless and now I’m affecting other people, just what is the point of this sad, !!!!, pitiful thing of existence.

I feel for you - and that is precisely how I feel too... But I think that your issue is surmountable and there are insurers who will insure you. Some one will respond who will help you. Good luck0

Have a look at the bankrupt friendly insurers thread:

I went with More Than who were good value and didn't have a problem with BR. And no I don't work for them :cool:0

Hi Matty, take a deep breath and have a look at that 'friendly insurers' thread. Perhaps give the Co-Op a call tomorrow as I think they're on the list as being OK providing contents insurance with a BR in the house and the premiums are reasonable.
Hang in there. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Im with More Than as well, phoned them up when I was made BR and was told, as long as you keep paying the installments its ok.
Hope you manage to sort it out.0 -
Andy and Misstraddy - can you add your comments to the 'friendly' thread please? I've just checked and nobody appears to have mentioned More Than being BR friendly on there. Would be useful to have them added. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

I have just had written confirmation from Co-op that my bankruptcy does not affect my home contents insurance, they were the cheapest anyway, and have let me pay by monthly direct debit.
I did have to do it over the phone, but they honoured the internet priceGetting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

I have my contents insurance with the Coop, I did it over the phone as it was easier that way to explain the BR, the premiums were very reasonable and payable monthly.:pB&SC No. 298
