if virgin are in the area you're an idiot not to go with them. you are more likely to get the speed you pay for and only very very rarely have we ever been throttled (weekends of many many downloads at least 150 gig) we're on the 100meg package and it is the best thing ever. virgin customer service is a million times better than sky and the extras are good too, e.g. free spotify premium, photo printouts etc.
Unfortuntately as i said, im not in the Virgin area0 -

Contrast with dire BT service/Asian call centres when I contacted them to make a minor tweak to my service.
Re Sky I have looked at their packages, but years ago I simply moved from their basic subscription service to Sky Freesat. So I get my satellite TV for free anyway.
OP have you looked at the threads in the phones, web and TV section?

I did a live chat with someone on the BT website about their services, and i was thanking them for helping and explaining things to me, and he just wrote an ending -"please leave a comment at the end of this chat" and went -i just thought he was incredibly rude!!
I tried a live chat except it wasn't responding. I closed up and was going out the house when I got a call from India asking me to close the live chat window. I said I already did it!
Just finished that call and on way out again - another call from flippin India to close the window. Someone else this time and I could barely understand a word he was saying.:(0 -
I have ADSL24, FTTC and I live 4 miles from the exchange but about half a mile from the green cabinet, technical support is a geographical number and in the UK.

I don't know if you've already made your decision, but I'd add my recommendation to plus.net. I don't what their packages are at the moment so you'd need to check out their website for prices (you can get your telephone + internet together). I've been with plusnet for many years now (6 maybe) and I have had no issues at all. Anytime I have rung them to ask questions it has been quick and painless; they have been very helpful. Had to emailling them to get them to tell RTE player to recognise I am in N.Ireland and not elsewhere in UK, and that basically took overnight (ok so there's nothing on RTE player, but hey....)#96 of the Norn Iron Club

there is so little choice over here, especially in the rural area im in, but in the end i plumped for plusnet -60gb broadband and basic phone package. I liked this as they said any downloads you do at night dont count, so makes up for not having unlimited...
Just have to keep fingers crossed./...
Having said that, for the past 10 days i have been tearing my hair out with my current provider (ZEN) who are supposed to be brilliant.....theyve not been that great with me and im not paying extra for their selling point of "great customer care" but when it comes to you needing them, they suck!!! (but thats just my opinion)
thanks for all the help with this folks :j:beer:0
