not for your personal views about renting.
yet the OP made typically adverse comment about renting?

but you are taking your personal views into this, you realise that you will never be able to get another property in your name again and are trying to justify this by convincing yourself that renting is better. You sound bitter.

Again assumptions are being made with that comment......whether or not anyone is 'able' to climb back onto the property ladder is irrelevant...has it not occurred that folk may not even want to buy again?

Your own attitude is at odds with what you post elsewhere...

However, that is entirely another issue.

What I aim to achieve is a balance between opposing views or influences [for influence is at the root of this particular topic]...I am extremely conscious that many others lurk, read what is posted...and sometimes, they take heart at viewpoints which re-enforce their own, cultured beliefs.

For decades society in this country has advocated property ownership [to provide house and home]as what should be everybody's ultimate goal in life.

This influence colours people's attitudes towards renting....which is somehow seen as a last-ditch, poor-persons resort.

Yet in other Countries, people generally cannot comprehend the British fetish with property ownership.

This forum specialises in helping, supporting and advising those who are, were, or about to become BR.

To survive, indeed make the best of the opportunities BR delivers, means, often, making a quantum leap in terms of aspirations....often away from those we have all been encouraged to embrace.

Renting is as good as buying.....

yet few seem to want to point out the drawbacks of property ownership, certainly compared to renting?

Is it because, to do so may make one feel a 'traitor to the capitalist cause?'
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
