Creditors seriously harrassing me!

Hi.
I didn't realise that DMPs took so long to set up, my creditors are getting really antsy.
A couple of them have passed the debts onto a collections agency. Both of whom are expecting me to pay the full amounts! One of them has passed the debt onto a solicitors firm and said that if it goes through the courts I will be liable to pay their costs!
What part of "not able to pay" don't they get? I have been nothing but cooperative, always communicating by writing (I refuse to phone them because I know what tricks they use plus it would have cost me a further fortune!) and offering them a repayment deal before I sent off for the DMP and they have just flatly refused to accept.
There's no way I'm going to get dragged to court and pay their fees when I have done everything I've been advised to, the right way.
How far does it have to go before it becomes Harrassment and a breach of my rights?
