I expained in a earlier thread that I have one debt left which is to avon dating back to 2007 for the amount of £290, I spoke to avon who said I had to eos solutions.
The first to them said the debt at to be cleared in full there and then and then I could pay £10 a month in installments. he said that they do not do settlement agreements. I said that I would sought advice as may just leave for another couple of years until it comes off my file
Called again a couple of hours later, she said they could only 3 installments and when I mentioned the above she said alright we can do that, when I mentioned to her about a settlement she said she would have to speak to her manager and wanted to me to make a payment today. I said no I would like to offer a settlement payment and she said abruptly i'll talk to my manager and slammed the phone down. I was polite but assertive throughout and did not really comment when I mentioned waiting a couple of years and pay nothing
Am I doing the right thing and is it worth carry on trying to get a settlement ?

If you are wanting to offer a reduced settlement then you really need to do it in writing not by phone. And you need written confirmation from them that your payment will be in full & final settlement of the debt before you make the payment to them.
If they won't accept a reduced settlement then I would write to them to offer whatever monthly payments you can afford.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Oh ok they did seem to me that they would accept a settlement but hankering for all0
