Scones - Cookery homework

Options
I made scones in school last week - deliciousinnocent0009.gif

However I missed 30 minutes as I had to go for my Flute lesson during Cookery.

Homework has to be researched either in Library or on Web. I asked my Mum though - but did she give me the right answers!!!:rotfl:
  1. Why is it difficult to know exactly how much liquid to add to your mixture?
  2. How can you tell if your scones are cooked?
  3. How could you reduce the fat content of your scone?

1 flour can differ in the amount of liquid it holds

2 scones will be risen and golden on top

    3 use reduced fat marg

    someone else might know better

1 flour can differ in the amount of liquid it holds that's what my mother said! Plus she also said if room is very warm butter will be softer and will affect the consistency

2 scones will be risen and golden on top my mother said risen and colour

3 use reduced fat marg she said use low fat marg too instead of butter

Oh I love being right. I think she thought I was waffling when I said that you get different qualities of flour aside from wholemeal etc. and my mother always told me to add liquid gradually as you can always add more but you can't take away!!!

Ps for those who don't know I'm Cloe (not her real name) Mother.

  • Is anyone else getting a virus warning when opening this post? I've been in twice now for a read and it has happened both times.

The first time I didn't associate the warning pop up with opening the post but it has just happened again. It's reporting a VBS/Karmahotel.gen trojen?!?!?

It has quarantined it okay, but wondered if it was just my PC being ultra sensitive or whether anyone else had it.

I've just realised I'm not going to want to come back in and check the answer now doh

I just got the same warning again when I came to view your response, so it's definitely the thread not something else triggering it. But, as I said earlier, it could just be my PC being over-sensitive about something that everyone elses thinks is ok.

I will start a new thread on this same board, perhaps you would be kind enough to try reading it and let me know if u getting a warning. I'm using the same PC as DD so if there is a problem from my machine I will then know.
