Hi All
Me and my lovely are looking to get married in the summer, but we need to do it on a budget. We need to find a venue for buffet/party that will take about 100 people. We are based in North London and are trying to find somewhere nearby. Has anyone got any experience/advice on venues??
Thanks in advance
Mark

Hello Mark, just a few questions to ask so I can point you in the right direction:
* Do you want a venue with a paying bar attached or will you be providing all the drink?
* Where are you getting wed and do all the guests have transport to get to a venue from the wedding venue?
* Are you having food, if so will it be hot food or cold finger buffet?
* Do you want to have entertainment such as a DJ or will you be doing that yourself?
* Do you have a colour theme for your wedding?
* How many guests per table do you want?
As soon as i know this i may be able to suggest a venue. And yes the lady in the avatar is me

Hello Achtunglady
Many thanks for your reply! Here goes.....achtunglady wrote:
* Do you want a venue with a paying bar attached or will you be providing all the drink? We were hoping to do the drink ourselves to reduce cost...hopefully a booze cruise or similar??
* Where are you getting wed and do all the guests have transport to get to a venue from the wedding venue? We are going to sort out a registery office near the venue, but thought we should sort the venue first. Our original idea was to try and do it under one roof so all our guests are involved in everything, but think this might be too expensive
* Are you having food, if so will it be hot food or cold finger buffet? Again we are planning on doing it ourselves, probably a buffet type scenario
* Do you want to have entertainment such as a DJ or will you be doing that yourself? We were thinking ipod and large speakers, but would love a live band??
* Do you have a colour theme for your wedding? Not yet, but we are both in creative jobs so will again hopefully be sorting the 'look' ourselves??
* How many guests per table do you want?I suppose about 8-10???
Just for a bit more info, we are probably working on a budget of about £2000, we really don't want to start our married life by going into any unnessasary debt!!:p
Any help would really be much appreicated

Ok, sounds good so far, would you be ok with a community hall decked out? The one I am thinking of has a small kitchen if you need to heat food, and theres another one that has a larger kitchen and a hatch into the main hall. What kind of time did you want the reception to go on to and would you mind a dj if a live band couldnt be found?
Is the £2,000 for all food including the cake and venue hire plus hall and table decoration or it is for all of the wedding including dress etc????
Providing the wedding isn't the last weekend of June i'd be happy to come along and help out (free of charge). We will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary on the 30th June.
Also how many adults and children? If there a few children then the second venue would be better as there is a seperate room attached to the hall, where they can play/mess about!!!
The second venue is on a bus route not far from Wood Green Civic Centre, I will have to have a look at other venues near different register office. And yes the lady in the avatar is me
