Wholesale Carpet

Hi,

Went to Allied Carpets today and quite fancy the Victoria Carpets range(UK manufacturer).

Can anyone recommend if i can buy cheaper elsewhere (eg not Allied Carpets).

Allied also have a so called sale at the moment. Any advice on what discounts people have managed to negotiate will be useful too or packages including fitting and underlay.

Thanks
Filiss

Allied carpets are probably the dearest carpet shop out so it is not hard to buy cheaper. It all depends on what carpet you want. If its Victoria carpets well they are a dear exclusive company who only trade with respectable, and dear, retailers. The same goes for any axminster carpets.Local independant shops who have been established a long time will not only be glad of the trade but usually get a good discount with their suppliers and will negotiate better. You can forget negotiating with big companys as their underlay, fitting costs and prices are all dictated by head office . Sometimes it would result in a warning for staff to discount.
The best way to save money is the fitting and underlay- which have a HUGE mark up.NEVER buy underlay or gripper from Allied , Carpetright.A bag of 15m sq underlay only costs about £30 -40 for really good quality while you will get charged about £8-£10 a sq mt at a big retailer. Fitting is overpriced too and a good fitter can usually be found by word of mouth - sometimes they will supply cheap underlay too.If you buy from a big retailer you can easily get the underlay, gripper yourself and own fitter which will save you a lot.
Carpetright have their Big madness sale on next tuesday were they do pretty good offers ( sometimes very close to trade price) so thats a good bet if you take in my other advice.
PS beware of hicked up delivery prices too.
