Hi
Can someone please recommend a website where I can buy pretty and reasonably priced medical alert jewellery? I only know of MedicAlert which is too expensive for me.

What about finding someone who does hand stamped jewellery and getting something custom made? I guess it depends what you want on it really. If it's just one word like 'diabetic' or 'epileptic' then that might work but not if you need to put more info on it. You could buy a cheap ID bracelet from a jewellers and get it engraved too.
Would a cram tag work for you? http://www.cramalert.co.uk/ They're designed for runners so the info is held on a database so a phone call would need to be made, again I guess it depends on your medical condition and how urgently people around you would need to know. A phone call might not be made until after you get taken to hospital I suppose. They're also not that pretty but maybe you could use one while you save up for a pretty one which you could then keep for nights out and special occasions.
p.s Just checked the link above and really like their stuff!0 -
Thanks for this thread.
My hubby is diabetic and had a bad hypo attack last week, causing him to black out, fit and now has a massive black eye and stitches above his eye.
Luckily he had his mobile on him and the paramedic rang to tell me he had fallen over...they didn't know he was diabetic and if they hadn't rang, my hubby would've gone into coma and possibly died.
They couldn't get any sense out of him and thought he was drunk - when he goes hypo he appears drunk and his breath smells of vodka or spirits.
This is only the 3rd time in 20 years that this has happened, and it scared the life out of him that he could've died due to not having anything on him to say he's diabetic.
I'm going to buy one of the medicalert bracelets for him so this won't happen again.Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage.0 -
I have had a couple from here http://www.laurenshope.com/ They are not the cheapest available, but are very good quality and beautiful too, meaning everyone should find something they like to keep them safe.0
