In todays Sun there is an item about Rewards For Scrap
at Tesco, it states
Tesco is throwing open the doors to Scrap Today in a
nationwide green campaign
Customers will be able to take old Kettles, TVs, Cameras
Microwaves and Irons into nearly 240 Hypermarkets from
this morning
They will be offered Gift Cards or Clubcard Points for the
gear they take in
Sorry I do not know any more details but it could be worth
checking out
Hope i have posted this in the right area

Yes any more info anyone?
Could be a good way of disposing of the old 14" black & white portable I have in the loft.0 -
More added
A 32inch Tv could have a trade in value of £160, the scheme
covers 3,000 Electrical Products and will eventually be extended
to Toys and Power Tools
The brainchild of UK boss Richard Brasher, its been trialled at
11 tesco Extra stores since august
Matt Finch from Tesco Electricals said he hoped most goods
would be refurbished and sold on
Like above posts I am looking forward to more feedback from
anyone else0 -
I've spoken with Customer Service at Tesco HQ and they are as much in the dark about it as everyone else.
They did contact another department and came back with a little bit more information.
Small electrical goods like toasters, kettles and irons have little intrinsic value and will not be suitable for refurbishing and accordingly customers will be offered just 5 Green Clubcard points for such items.
Anything valued at UNDER £50 can be exchanged for GREEN CLUBCARD POINTS OR a GIFT CARD , but anything OVER £50 must be taken as a GIFTCARD.
Something like the example of the 32" TV - the item must be taken to the Tesco Extra store where it will be "VALUED" and an offer made
Other than that details are very sketchy, didn't even have a list of stores.
Given this has been trialled in 11 Extras since August, surely SOMEONE  from MSE MUST have encountered and used this facility

I can't wait to find out more about this - have an old 32 inch TV the size of a house that I'm desperate to dispose of to make room for a shiny new one (when I can afford it!)0
