Maternity Leave / Holiday question

You are entitled to all your contractual benefits during maternity leave now, including paid leave, so if you normally get bank holidays off paid, then yes you still get them and should be able to add them to your annual leave entitlement.

I have just gone on maternity leave and was advised by my HR that they will pay me in on lump sum on my first 'pay day' off during maternity leave the following:

- Any outstanding holiday from 2011
- Any holiday that I will accrue during the first 9 months of my maternity leave
- Any BANK HOLIDAY's that would take place whilst I am on maternity leave

I guess all companies work differently, you are getting this at the end rather than the start BUT you are entitled to bank holidays and don't let them fob you off, like someone else said this is a new development so they may not be up to speed yet.

I went on maternity leave in April this year and i was told by my boss that im not entitled to get the bank holidays back that i will miss while im off. I will have missed all but the christmas ones by the time i return in a weeks time!

You should bring it up with your boss that you believe you are entitled to the bank holidays. As it is still the same holiday year there should be no issues with you getting them.
Perhaps print off the info provided by Sambucus or direct your boss to the site.
