Recycle or give items to charity - where do I go?

I am wanting to either give to charity or recycle two items - a small micro system and a portable colour tv. Both are fairly old but in working order. I have tried selling the tv on ebay but it did not sell. Now I want to preferably give them to charity or possibly recycle. I have advertised the micro system on freecycle but no takers! What do I do and where can I take them? They will end up being dumped at this rate which I think is a shame, surely someone can make use of them? Any ideas please.

If you want to recycle, contact your local council or visit their website to find out about local facilities.
It might also be worth contacting your local YMCA as they often take donations of unwanted furniture and give to families on low incomes. Also the Salvation Army...I have a feeling they might do a similar thing.
Failing all of the above, post on the charities board.
I agree that it would be a crying shame to end up dumping them. Better off donating them to charity and allowing someone to get some enjoyment out of them.

charity shops often don't accept electrical items as they have to get them tested, but some areas have schemes which recycle and repair electrical items and pass them on to those who need them
Check with your local council, they may know of a similar scheme in your area. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Thanks for your quick response Catseyez.
I had thought about Salvation Army as I am sure I visited their shop many years ago when I moved into my first home and was furnishing it on a low budget. When I did a search online it seemed they only do clothes and shoes now. I think I will ring up their shop tomorrow.0
