Eon can't count.

Ok so I'm not telling you anything you don't know. I just got the usual demand for an increase in my dd - 40%! - despite being £185 in credit.

Out of curiosity I went on Eon's own site to get a quote as a new customer, put in my consumption figures, and they offered 4 tarrifs giving an annual saving of between £80 & £130 per annum. When I, eventually, spoke to an adviser they said I was on the best possible tarrif. Of course I queried this as their own website said I could save £130. I was passed on to their 'web team' who confirmed that the quote on their website was wildly inaccurate.

Is this one for trading standards?

  • What details did you enter to get the quote as you can't input that you're already with Eon so you would have had to make up the company/tariff you're on which would surely lead to inaccurate results. Plus you can't enter your usage in terms of kilowatt hours per year so it's unlikely to be highly accurate anyway.

    Hi mkwelsh,

Just a couple of questions, as I agree with Stewie_griffie here.

What did you enter as your usage? If you used a monthly spend instead of your actual kWh then you won’t get an actual result.

When we do a comparison over the phone for you, we can ask what your needs are and base your quote on this, the calculations are then done using your previous 12 months usage in kWh as this give a much more accurate figure.

Have you had a recent tariff change?

As well as asking us , you can also pop your usage in to a comparison site and see how we do.
