Think I screwed up my interview then declined by Asda

I feel pretty crap, I prepared for what I though would be asked in my interview today but he threw in questions I have never been asked before.

He seemed impressed when I said I wanted to progress with the company etc but I feel like I was rubbish.

Did some tests on maths, information retention, listening and selling, wasn't what I expected.

Although I thought I sucked at the telephone interview and she thought I was great so hope it is a sign of things to come and that the man who saw me knew I was just a bit nervous.

Then I get home and I failed Asda assessment tests. Email to say they won't be taking my application further.

So I'm feeling a bit down about it all, any tips on how to remain upbeat and move forwards?

  • Use each interview as a learning experience, you may not get in this time but in will certainly help with your next interview :-) I applied for a basic position with primark (they are opening up near me) and didnt even get over the first hurdle but the next day I got offered a job I applied ages ago as a floor manager so I believe everything happens for a reason and the right job will come along you just need to ride out the disappointment for a little bit longer x

I just feel disappointed I failed something so basic such as assessments for Asda, it was a check out position.

The jobs I've had interviews for have all been quite good jobs.

Maybe you didnt get the job, cos they felt you were too good for the job!
Even when you feel like you have nothing, someone else has far less. Find them and help them. You’ll see why.....

Remember there will be lots more people that applied and didn't even get to interview stage. Chalk it up to experience :)

Go and cry elsewhere. The thread clearly isn't meant to insult you.

To some people it will be "only" a checkout position as the responsibilities are minimal. The same as to some people in the world its "only" a middle management position because to them the responsibilities are minimal.

Ask both jobs for feedback whatever happens, this is a must, or you will never learn a lesson.
