Im off to Rome for a long weekend in January. Can anyone recommend a good hotel/ self-catering that is central and good value? Thanks!

We stayed here a couple of years back:

I think it was #2 on TripAdvisor at that stage, but seems to have slipped down, even though the reviews are still as good as ever.
It's only a couple of streets away from Termini station, so is very handy for the Metro, trains, etc. Giovanna, the owner, is absolutely awesome and has fresh pastries etc. for breakfast every morning. She is also the friendliest person you've ever met! Her family also owns a couple of restaurants in the area, which are superb.
It's not huge, it's not massively flashy, but it really is an excellent place to stay.
Forgot to mention - if you email her directly, you'll get it cheaper than it would be from any of the booking sites.0 -
You could have a look at the Bed & Breakfast Association of Rome - accommodation in private houses (even the odd palazzo...)
