Question - Am I all done??

Hi All,

Been browsing the forum for the last three years, and always found an answer to my questions until now (although I'm sure it's answered somewhere, I just can't find it!)

To give a bit of background, I went bankrupt August 2008 and made my first payment to the OR November 2008. I was discharged August 2009, and have carried on making my payments to the OR on time every month.

I was of the understanding that I have to pay for 3 years, making 36 monthly payments. My 36th payment was made last month, so am I now done? I've heard nothing from the OR since the arrangements were made 3 years ago, so not sure if I need to contact them, or can I just cancel the standing order now? Is there any way they can extend the payments, or if I've paid the 36th payment am I finally home and dry and back to normal?!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi CraigFry and welcome, its an odd one this as some receive a letter from Moonbeaver saying your last payment is due and some don't. But yes you have finished....Just a reminder the 36 months start from when your IPA was implemented not from your BR Date. So if that is the case you are finished and cancel SO now!! Your home and dry!!

    Best wishes

  • Wow, thanks for the feedback guys!! A pretty damn good feeling!

Does this mean there are no possible come backs anymore? No chance of them phoning me up next month and saying that actually I was under paying for the last 3 years, and owe them another million pounds? Sorry if I'm repeating myself, but once the 36th monthly (not weekly ;) ) payment is made, I can draw a line under this and pretty much forget about it?!

As long as you have informed them of any changes etc then you should be fine

  • I am in pretty much the same situation ... went BR in May 2008 and after some faffing by the OR, started payments in Nov 2008 - so today have just made my 36th and final payment. I have emailed them to confirm this, so hoping for something in black and white to confirm it all. Its been a completely hectic few years, but I have rebuilt my life and am back on track. Onwards and Upwards !!!!
