im getting there bit by bit

I think im finally getting the better of my debts. ive got no one else to share it with, so, i thought I'd share it with you good people. after getting my tax refund of over £3000 and my PPI refund of over £3000 i have paid off a debt of £1074 to GE money, APR over 30% , paid off my Barclay card £1400 at 17%, an overpayment from DWP £400. so far that's saving me £230 a month. The next card to be executed with the sissors is my Tesco club card £3000 at 17%? then over the next couple of pay days or so my MBNA card of £1600 at 5% for life, then my nationwide card £1200 at 0%. i have never spent so much money in one go, boy it feels good, but a little sad as well seeing my bank balance going down so quickly.

You may wish to officially close them rather than just cutting them up? Perhaps keep 1 as an 'emergency' card. Thats what I would do anyway.

Congratulations on your debt demolition! It may feel sad seeing the money leave the bank account now, but think how good it will feel not to see the money leaving the account every month!
  • How long is the tesco card 0% for?

Absolutely no point in paying off anything that is charging you less in interest than you could make from a savings/high interest current account
    B.A - Shut up fool!
  • Well done. I know what you mean about watching it leave your account. Within minutes of my PPI reclaim money being paid into my account I paid it out again. I did take a screenshot of my bank balance first though! Well worth it to be debt free. Good luck with the rest of it. When do you expect your DFD to be?

Well done to all of you. I have climbed a steep hill for the past 6 years with a burden of debt on my back , now I am going downhill with all debts cleared and £3000 in my bank account for the first time ever and I am in the over 50's category. Was £50,000 in debt in 2005 but I hung on in there and kept my nose to the grindstone and with Martins help have made it. Never give up!!
