We need a new duvet badly. Pref. at least 13.5 tog, king size, and good quality! Ours is rubbish, the filling keeps moving around and leaving huge gaps.
We've seen one in the Spinning Wheel for £53 (microfibre, 13.5 tog, square 'pockets' of filling instead of horizontal stitching which can move around more easily iykwim) and one the same in the Bedlinen Warehouse for £50 - can anyone beat this?
Thanks in advance.

May not be similar quality but I picked up one of these from Asda for £9.00.

Thanks revpeachy... although our last two duvets have been 'bargains' that have not lasted very long = false economy. So we are willing to spend a little more to get something really good!
What's the longest anyone's duvet has lasted them? Ours tend to go lumpy at around the 2-year mark!7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

wanchai, it does depend. Duvets can't be washed at home and this service isn't cheap. My duvet cost £10 from Asda. The local dry cleaners charge minimum £15 to wash and dry double duvets.
After 18 - 24 months I can throw away the old one and replace it again saving me a fortune.0 -
Hmm, that's true! There's one in Dunnes for £32 - it doesn't have the 'pocket' stitching so am am afraid of the filling going lumpy, but for that price we could almost have two for the price of one!
I have never had a duvet dry cleaned as I throw them out after 2 years on average, am I minging?7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

I don't know if I have ever actually washed a duvet.. :-))
I prefer feather duvets and went for an all-season one which comes with a 9 tog and 4.5 tog which can be used on their own or attached to make a 13.5 tog. It was expensive (£100 for king) but is lovely to sleep under..0 -
We can't have feather/down duvets, sadly, as OH is allergic. I would love one!!! They are so snug
Glad you have the same attitude to washing them as I do lol. May I ask how long you have had yours?7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

We have 2 duvets, a light one for the summer and a heaver one for winter. I suppose I'm fortunate that my washing machine has a large drum so I can wash these myself, rather than pay for dry cleaning. Just put the heavy one on last week and washed the other, which will go in a vacuum bag ready for next year.
Pretty sure we got ours in Argos, it was 6-7 yrs ago and they're still in good condition! Wouldn't be looking to replace either unless they get torn to be honest.0 -

I only bought my most recent one a few months ago as I upgraded to a King sized bed (bliss...) but I'm a little embarrased to admit how long the last one wasn't washed for
(a couple of years anyway) But in saying that, covers are washed regularly.:)

I find Menarys have very good duvets around about £60-£80. I was in yesterday and they had started a sale so there is going to be 10-20% of normal price.
I bought 3 a few years back with about 30% off. Good buy
Why don't you give your nearest a ring and find out the best price. Also check their website.
Hope this helps.
I actually picked a beautiful like new double Norwegian ?? duvet up in charity shop 2 weeks ago (£3) ...would have cost a lot of money. Then got it dry cleaned which cost £10. This one will be used for sofa duty during the winter:):) to save on oil.... I have now found 2 so only another one to get and that will be all 3 'kids' sorted.
