I think you need to not worry, and just concentrate on other things, they have to cope, your going to have a baby and it's tough luck.0

Correct, if you return after only taking your Ordinary (paid) M/L you have the right to return to your original job / hours / salary. If you take Additional (unpaid) M/L I believe you still have the right to return, but the company doesn't have to keep the exact same job open for you. And if you ask to go back p/t or with any changes, then you don't have the right to get what you want.
As for the handover notes, if anyone asks you can always say that you are documenting the things you do on a regular basis to see if there are any areas where improvements could be made.
OML is 26 weeks, although you are entitled to statutory maternity pay for 39 weeks0
