RECORDED (SIGNED FOR) DELIVERY POST: Why so !!!!!!?

I have used recorded signed for for some time but recently it really has gone down hill.

I have packages just posted thru my door that are recorded and have had a pretty high percentage of items I send not arrive.

I have spoken to a couple of postmen and apparently the sheets 'they should' get signed arent even asked for when they get back to depot.

One Postman even said he has them all the sheets in his bedroom!

This would account for the lack of tracking info for a high number or items on the Royal Mail website.

Having spoken to RM Customer services they now simply class items that have no tracking info as 'lost' and to put in a claim.

I changed from using recorded delivery to special delivery last year after approx 25% of items sent using recorded delivery were untraceable. Special delivery seemed to work ok until recently. But, now have 2 items sent special where the Royal Mail have no tracking information - but what makes it worse is that the RM are claiming that the items were delivered, but are providing no "proof" other than a letter from customer services saying so. The recipients deny receiving the items, and the RM refuse compensation - obviously I have lodged a formal complaint with them. Heaven knows what to do in future with valuable/important items, I really don't think the RM are competent.
