The other day my DH broke one of my plates. I bought them about 3 years ago from sainsburys - the olive plate design. Sainsburys no longer stock it. In the past I remember hearing about somewhere that you could access old designs and perhaps replace pieces - does anyone know about this?
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

ebay?
I've seen some websites that search for 'out of print' crockery but it tends to be wedgewood and the like rather than the standard sets (and expensive compared to ebay  ).
Or as a cheeky thought - contact Sainsburys who could contact/tell you the suppliers details and they may have a few samples lying around that they could send youThe early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Here is a link to Chinasearch, they have all the big makes like Royal Doulton and Wedgwood but also have the high street stores like BHS and M&S but not Sainsburys at the moment.
You can request a search which means if they are ever offered any they will take it and offer it to you but their prices are pretty steep. I think your best bet is to run a search on ebay and then save the search so you'll be emailled the next time a piece is listed, this will be far cheaper0 -
Thanks everone.
When I went on e-bay I found this link ; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Petticoat-Lane
that is 'Specialising in china replacements (or china matching) we carry stocks of many of the major manufacturers. We can replace that broken plate, cup, bowl or teapot!'. Unfortunately they don't have what I want but I'll keep an eye on the siteWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
I've just remembered the ebay 'want it now' facility where you can put a request in, someone might have the plate you're looking and list it just because they know that it's being requested, they have to list for sale in the normal manner (they can't contact you directly) when it's listed they can then show you the link to the item
I do a bit of china matching on ebay so I'll keep my eyes open for it.0 -
I used ebay to complete our Royal Doulton set that we had started collecting when we got married, but didn't have the spare money to complete until after it had been discontinued. I found that the prices on ebay were around 1/3 to 1/2 of what the china matching services were selling at. Would bear in mind though that the postage costs can be quite large as items can be quite heavy.I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0
