Dance Mats - advice

Hi Everyone,
A couple of years ago I purchased a Zone Family Fit for my two children for Christmas. The children like it, but get frustrated, because it freezes. They then stop playing because they have to keep resetting it.
I am thinking of getting them some dance mats for Christmas. I am looking at the Playstation One or Two. My questions are:
1. What are the advantages of have the ps2 over ps1 to work with a dance mat.
2. I can get two dance mats cheaper than buying a pair. Can two dance mats be used at the same time?
3. Do the dance mats have to be the same make to work together.
4. Any advice on good dance/fitness games to buy for a 14 year old or 10 year old.
Thank you very much.
