Only a couple of weeks ago Sarkozy and Merkel came out of a weekend meeting saying they had reached total agreement but were unable to give any details at that time.
I think an awful lot of people realised the first bit was a lie and no agreement had been reached never mind total and that the second bit was not because the details were some big secret but because there simply wasn't any, yet it did achieve it's aim in a limited fashion by calming the markets for a little while.
The problem now is that the lie can only be kept going for so long and time is now running out to find some sort of agreement. Since that weekend they've repeated and repeated that details would be forth coming at this summit and hinted that it's going to be a major announcement that will solve the main problems. Now this summit has been extended. And now, the meetings for the extended summit to deal with the extension of the summit, have been postponed.There has been another hiccup in the eurozone's plans to announce a final rescue deal in Brussels to try to end the turmoil in the euro area.
The Polish presidency of the EU has confirmed to the BBC that key meetings have been postponed.
The EU's 27 finance ministers and the 17-nation Eurogroup will not now meet on Wednesday, although a full emergency heads-of-government summit will happen.
This could mean a delay to final announcements on solutions.0
