I do also own a car, and have a courtesy car on the drive due to an accident i had recently, but I'll move them round the road or something tomorrow.

They cannot levy on a courtesy car but you need to "sell" the other car to someone you trust explicitly before you get it home. Bailiffs can check number plates with the DVLA, so you must do this urgently.

I bet they have charged you for all the court applications, they can mount up
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

It won't stop them trying. They if they are mad/stupid/whatever they will still levy on it thinking that it's the OP's to try and scare them into paying then when they get back to the office and do a DVLA check find it's not owned by the OP.

If a levy drops through the door on the courtesy car just ignore it. The bailiff will figure it out eventually.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

ok thank you.

I have still not heard anything from the council, or equitas (I copied them into my email) so I think I'm going to pay the amount I offered to the council this morning anyway. Do you think this would help?
• T29, i am in the same situation as you, and i have followed the advice of hallowitch and happyMJ, the baiifff will try and bully you into making a payment you can't afford and threaten all sorts of rubbish, but the law is on your side, the bailiff will try every trick in the book to make you believe they have all this power, but at the end of the day, they can't do anything bar bully you. don't panic, stay calm. put everything in writing to the council and bailiffs as suggested and it will get sorted , the council will just tell you that you will need to deal the bailiffs directly as they has past the debt on to them, but keep at it and in the end the bailiffs will pass the case back to the council and you can deal with them.

It will not do any harm.

You will have to pay the basic bailiff fees for one or two visits but start by making sure they are not charging illegal fees.

This is hallowitch's advice

send this to the baillif company by e-mail (anything you send the bailiff company send to the council addressed to the Head of revenues and vice versa ) info@equita.com should work
Name
Address
