Party food for 90 year old.

It is my mother's 90th birthday in January and we are planning a party in her residential home.
Has anyone used one of the big supermarkets for party food? We're thinking in terms of a buffet type spread - sandwiches, quiche etc.
Have looked on the websites and for most of them you need to pick up from the store.
We would like the food delivered (Sunday) because we all live some distance away.
Does anyone know/could recommend anyone?
Many thanks.
PS The home's in the Dartford, Kent area.

If you are planning on ordering the food ready-prepared from the supermarket you would probably get a better response on the Food Shopping & Groceries board. Let me know if that's the case and I'll move your thread over there.

Thanks for your reply - I know it would be cheaper to do it ourselves but going for the easy option as we all live a fair distance apart.

My first thought was ... soft foods

(quite often at that age they have dentures and just as often it's been a long time since they had any re-fitted; not necessarily your mother, but the other residents).0 -

No problem. Whatever suits you and your family is the best option for you.
I've left a redirect to the thread on Old Style so that if any Old Stylers come up with ideas they'll find it easily.
I hope your mum has a great birthday and you all have a lovely time.

A friend of mine ordered from Sainsburys a couple of years ago and they delivered....whether they still do or not I don't know. You could also try and local sandwich shop, lots of them do catering on the side...Don't Throw Food Away Challenge January 2012 - £0.17 / £10

I've not used a supermarket for buffet food before, but I did use Greggs for my wedding.
We had some buffet food at the castle we married in, had different sandwiches and sub rolls, plus sausage rolls. Im sure you can add on more things, like cakes etc.
Only problem was we had to collect from the store, not sure if this is an option for you though.

I'm sure Waitrose do party/buffet type food and they deliver - depends on your budget though and if they deliver to your area:
