today, tuesday 18th october, approximately 9 weeks before christmas, i have both started and then finished my christmas shopping.

that's presents bought for my mum, dad, brother, sister and the girlfriend (and her parents).

i learnt my lesson last year after traipsing around the trafford centre on the saturday before christmas. never again.

has anyone else finished their christmas shopping yet?

Jealous!! I've always been the sort of person to start their shopping early and have done this year but I still have so much to do. On top of that I have a baby due in under 2 weeks (my first) andI can't imagine I'll even be able to think about Christmas shopping for a good while. Do you want to come and do the rest of mine you sound mega organised?!!

I have just a couple more to get then I'm done!

I'd never understood before why people shopped throughout the year for Christmas. How silly of me! Last year I did most of mine in maybe November but this year started much earlier!

It's nice to spend a little each month on things and then be done before the mad Christmas shopping rush in town starts, and I'm not skint either!

The only downside is that because I pick up little bits here and there for people, I now have almost too much for one person!

I don't go 'Christmas shopping' though, just buy things as and when I see them that I think people will like.

organisation is certainly not something i have ever been renowned for. i just despise shopping for other people. when i got shopping for myself, i know what i want, so it's like a military operation. in, buy, out.

pretty much the only reason i got caught out last year was because the gifts i had ordered online (albeit stupidly late) were affected by the snow and ice before christmas.

I can imagine a lot of people were caught out by that!

I don't tend to do online shopping though because I like to see and feel the things I buy, and I don't like to pay for delivery when I can walk into my local town from my house/work! I'm just tight haha.

Throughout this year I've been stocking up on things in the sales for general gifts; costume/fashion jewellery for my girlfriends for example is often marked down to £1 or £2 in New Look etc. so I can give them a few pieces for the same price as I would spend on one full price.

Last year part of one present to someone was foreign currency, which I stupidly left until Christmas Eve to get. NOWHERE was open to change any money so I just had to give an IOU instead. Doh!

  • Oh I wish I had finished!

I'm due to give birth in January so I'm trying to juggle buying bits for the baby and Xmas. Most of DS' baby clothes are blue and typically we're having a girl this time!

I'd say I have most of the presents bought but a few of the ones left are more expensive. Also waiting for some discount codes because I really hate paying "full price" for anything these days!

I've wrapped everything I've already got before my bump gets too big!

Very true, but I can't get everything I want on there.

I've only just started mine, bought some bits and pieces in the January sales but the majority for the children I still have to buy, plus hubby, in laws and nephew's and niece's .
Think I need to get started at least thinking about what to buy because at the moment I'm clueless!
