Bulk shopping

Hi all

If this is in the wrong place please move.

I have some spare cash available to me and I wanted to stock up on a few things, to ease monthly spend.

I'm thinking toilet roll, washing powder, fabric softener, tins.

My freezers are both full so no frozen foods unfortunatley.

Any ideas.

  • The 10kg sacks of crushed [STRIKE]persil[/STRIKE] leading brand washing powder tablets available on ebay are often recommended, the sellers offer both bio & non bio versions but you have to specify which you want as they don't list them separately.

Personally I dont believe it will give the claimed 350 washes as individual tablets contain a pre measured 33 grams of powder each & 2 tablets (66g of powder) is required for a standard wash so sufficient powder for the 350 washes they claim you will get out of each bag would weigh 23.1kg. The 10kg of crushed tablets they supply would in reality only be sufficient for 151 washes at the recommended rate of 66g per standard wash. Still a fair price though.

Fabric conditioner is available in various brands from numerous places in 5L bottles for around £4 such as http://www.rosspa.co.uk/fabric-softener-5-litre-p-508.html however 5L of vinegar will only cost you around £2 & is just as effective although it will not leave a scent unless you add a few drops of essential oil to it.

As well as tins I would add dried foods such as rice, pasta, flour etc... the same for ingredients in jars/bottles to your list obviously what you should purchase depends on the type of meals you cook though.
  • Have a good look on Amazon. I bought half price flash liquid.

T think that it makes sense to stock up on anything you use when you see a good offer.

For me its coffee, usually every few months halfprice in Co-op. Cathedral City cheese. Branston Beans, tinned tiomatos, Cornbeef, Tuna,Salmon, Fray Bentos pies.Flour,Rice and Pasta all regually on offer somewhere every few months.

I have done this for so long now that it really pays off as I very rarely have to pay full price for these now.

Good luck with the Bargainhunting and do keep an n on grabbits and food groceries.

I always buy loo rolls and kitchen rolls in bulk when there's an offer on. Also dog and cat tinned food.

I totally agree - this is what I do too - I always stock up when I see a good deal or a glitch, or a decent money off coupon, can't remember the last time I paid full price for tinned tomatos/pasta/rice/ beans/tuna/cheese/washing powder/dishwsher tabs/loo rolls/tea bags/coffee.....

It may be worth keeping the extra money you have to one side and stocking up when you see things, if you can't find everything you need right away.
