Dog bed filling! :)

Does anyone know where I can buy (wholesale if poss) filling for dog beds? A friend of mine is doing beds for rescues and has already the material for the covers but needs the filling - as cheap as possible!

Thanks! :D

  • How about trying the stuffing from 'old' duvets. Put the cover in the wash first and dry the stuffing and then reuse in your dog beds.
  • Thank you. Will pass this idea on, although I think she would need a lot of old duvets as she is hoping to make quite a lot of them.

Any other ideas? Does anyone know where polyester filling or something similar can be bought?
  • Try in Wilkinsons.I got my dog's bean bag bed in there and it was cheaper than anywhere else. They also had big bags of the beans which were really cheap but my sewing skills aren't up to making the cover!

What about vet bed? we went through loads of pillows and cushions with our dogs and they burst them all, when we got our newest pup she came with a bit of vet bed which is fantastic its like fleece and can be bought from ebay/shops/shows and cut into required size also the bonus of this is it can be washed at 60 degrees and also tumble dried and any accidents get drawn through so the dog isnt lying on a wet patch also works when coming in from the rain.
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

i know of people who buy the tesco/asda value king size duvets and cut them up. They bought a fair few when they were only £4/5 and made loads of dog beds for rescues :)

You can also ask on freecycle for old duvets?

I am always on the look out for dog bedding for my 2 labs and have found the cheapest place to buy old duvets is the Charity shops (bought 2 for £5 last week, they were £3.50 but I gave a fiver) , I try and use the PDSA first so that they benefit as its my favourite charity.

If I cant find duvets I hunt for sleeping bags or blankets.
