Christmas Party Food Help

We have a christmas party every year and this year will be no exception.

I have allready bought 60 chicken and 60 piece indian platter along with a 60 piece desert platter. Now we have a large family and friends so the above won't be enough and I want to do a fab spread. I have 10.00 tesco voucher which I want to use and get the most out of it as I can.

Anyone have any ideas how to make my food fab and cheap but look expensive and lots of?

I am going to do sausage rolls as everyone likes those and also thinking of ritz biscuits with cream cheese on the topand a slice of cucumber?

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

couple of things we did recently was some ciabatta which we toasted slightly with olive oil, then cut into small squares topped with red onion marmalade , chedder cheese and parma ham, tho parma ham is a bit pricy so normal ham would be fine
we also used tortillas and cut out about 4 small circles out of each one and made little mini wraps

Another thing to do is mini tomato, mozarella & basil sticks. (They are similar to cheese & pineapple sticks) They look fab - very colourful & always have gone down well at our parties. Skewer the three items onto a cocktail stick - each one would have a little piece of mozarella, torn off the ball, then a basil leaf (or half a leaf if they are big ones), then half a cherry tomato.

pasta/potato or rice salads, coleslaw, pizza, garlic bread, can all be done cheaply.

I usually do this cheesecake, its pretty easy & cheap, i use value biscuits, value soft cheese & value chocolate, I make it without the sauce & the nuts as i don't think it need it, sometimes without the Baileys always goes down a storm!

Roast potatoes, good fresh bread, crudeties & homemade dips are good fillers, as other poster said pasta, rice & potato salad & coleslaw
some quality pigs in blankets for a little festiveness!

    Coleslaw-Cabbage,red onion,carrot & Hellmans mayo is a must!
Rice Salad-Use Batchelors rice( curry or savoury rice) add chopped apple & grapes & mayo

  • Im having a little xmas party and have got some part baked baguettes with a jan date on so planning to do them as open sanwiches like this: 489980870_df46d79ceb.jpg
The baguettes were 4 for £1 so thought I could get quite a few from them.
  • How about some rocky road cakes? Just google the recipe - you can cut smaller pieces to make it go further.

French sticks are cheap, slice them up and put a selection of cheese and pate next to them.

Potato wedgies are cheap to make too - again google for a recipe that you like.
