Hi,
Any MSE's ever done this online?
I'm going to give it a bash (to save the £300 I usually pay an accountant!) Could use some encouragement, I'm a bit flummoxed by it all-too afraid to even LOOK at the site and it has to be in by Jan 31st!

Helloo Bunny
Honestly it's sooo easy you won't believe it. The site is so well designed. You need a PIN to be posted to your house for security to start an account. Have you got this? If not apply now for it as 24th Jan is the cut off date.
If you earn over £15k then you need to separate your expenses into headings - travel, hospitality, etc.
Give it a try

Hi Lara and Jobbin,
I've just got my 'secret code' in the post on Fri. Glad it's all easy as I'm not the most confident with these kinds of things...
Will give it a bash and be on here begging for help if I need it!

You have to register with HMRC on-line, I think it's similar to on-line banking, where you have to wait for access code.

We just did my OH's this evening. First time we have left it until the last minute. I must admit I am useless with forms like this, but managed his ok online. And if you are not sure, just ring the helpline number (they are open until 8pm every day I think) and they are really helpful and know their stuff. You'll be fine!0

Could you not have (or not still get) copies of the ones your accountant filled in and work from there?0

Just the other side of the coin. Did mine online a few yeasr ago and am still trying to sort out the mess. I missed one bit of the form and it caused no end of problems. We all evolve - get on with it0

Ivrytwr,
Good idea!
I do have it all in my filing cabinet.
Thanks all, I'll be getting started tonight actually adding up how much I made, then working out how much I sold at discount and charity (so not earned/no profit etc) then working out expenses. As far as car is concerned, I'm wondering which would make more sense, 40p a mile or actaully adding up all expenses like petrol, repairs etc.
