I think we've finally booked our date!

We've booked the 8th September 2012 after a lot of indecision!!
We've been engaged just over a year already. We only want a small ceremony and originally wanted a very informal day with a register office wedding, and a big party in a country pub. That all went wrong when we couldn't find a pub that we liked nearby, that could cater for our numbers. We looked at the options of hiring a hall, or having a garden party but then I had a wobble about the register office, which has wonderful gardens, but nowhere nice inside for wet weather photos!
Then we looked at the option of going away, we found a wonderful castle in Scotland, in the town that my Nan was born. We priced it all up, provisionally booked a date and decided we would really splash out as it was so special and pay for everyone to stay overnight. The wet weather photos would have been fab too in the castle! But we came up against too many problems with the inlaws refusing to travel that far. (We live in the south-east).
So we re-started our search, visited all the local hotel type venues, and finally found one we both love and comes in budget. So we've provisionally booked it, and will be paying the deposit soon! I'm so excited but we decided not to tell anyone yet (after all the hassle last time) so I wanted to come on here and tell you guys!:D
This time next year, we'll have been married one year, one month and 9 days :rotfl:

So it's 2012 you're marrying...you haven't mastered the art of time travel
Congratulations :T and remember we're all here to enjoy it with you and not give you hassle. Have fun with all your planning0 -
Lol, yes it's 2012! I saw your wedding pics, your dress looked amazing, I'm thinking of using Linda myself

Enjoy planning it. I loved every minute of planning mine.
Ours was very informal. Got married in a pub, lol.
I'm now enjoying getting the photos and putting together an album. It will be my Oct 1/2 term project, making sure it all matches to our invites and thank you cards. I did those myself, it was great.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
If you're after Linda you'd better contact her quickly - she already has quite a few weddings booked in for next year, which isn't surprising as she is totally brilliant0

I'm a graphic designer so I'm most looking forward to doing the stationery myself, and the photo album...oh and dress shopping of course!0

Congratulations!!
Let the fun begin. :beer:0 -
Forgot the mention, the significance of our date is that our first date was the 9th September 2008, so it'll be 4 years minus one day since we met!
I've already phoned the photographer we liked and he's booked up:( I realise we're quite late to all this, but I hope we can find someone decent!0 -
I thought I'd found someone decent from an established company who wanted wedding experience. They offered 1.5 hours for free as long as photos could be used on the website. If we wanted anymore time we'd have to pay.
Well I'm glad we didn't pay. Quality was rubbish.
Luckily my now mother in laws friend wanted wedding photo experience and offered to capture photos at the actual wedding for nothing. His photos were excellent and then just as a backup, maybe I had a gut feeling this company wouldn't be good I found a lady who was doing photographer since Dec as a hobby and wanted to start doing low key weddings to get experience.
She did the whole day for £50, arriving at 10:30am and not finishing till gone 4:30pm. She was fantastic, got lovely photos of everyone getting ready and as she was the only one in the morning I was nervous about those shots but they're fab.
Pays to look around, a more established company than this lady I had were worse and had more experience.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
How exciting!
Me & my partner got engaged on New Years Eve, to begin with we wanted a small informal wedding, which then changed to going abroad, which has now kind of changed to staying in our home town, there are far too many decisions to make and I just can't make my mind up!
I never really though of a Registry Office wedding but think that could be the way to go with small meal for guests then big party at nightime. Although don't want to sound snobby but our Registry office is nothing spectacular and would have junkies & all sorts walking past. Not something I wan't to experience on my wedding day!
Argh, so confusing!!0
