Lakeland antibacterial cloths.

Options
Hi Guys, I've been 'wanting' these for a wee while now, but as they don't come cheap a bit unsure as to whether I should get them. My dishcloths are all more holey than godly now (IYKWIM) and I should replace them.
I'm a bit 'sad' in the respect that I like my dishcloths to retain their shape after washing so that they can be folded neatly (please tell me I'm not alone). These cloths appeal as they have the added bonus of being antibacterial and on buy one get one half price.

Yikes, they are not cheap, are they?

Honestly, I'd get microfibre cloths (3 for a pound) and some Zoflora (99p per concentrated spray or about 89p for the concentrate which can be diluted to make several litres of disinfectant).

The microfibre cloths wash brilliantly and retain their shape.

    Hi Kaz

They look quite good value to me. 5 cloths per pack, and two packs for £5.908. That's only 60p a cloth, I don't think that's a lot considering that they are promising a long life +antibac.

I love my microfibre cloths, but I just don't like washing up with them. They aren't designed to be used with detergent.

    IMHO anyway.

Thansk for your replies both :D
Like you saddiedoll I love my microfiber cloths, I've been using them for a few years (first found in Dunelm) - but like dannahaz I don;t like washing up with them. I also don't like wiping down crumby surfaces etc with them as I find they are too good at holding onto muck (ie it doesn't always wash out - yuck)
Of the 'economical' dishcloths I've bought a lot seem to mis-shape into a mess of cloth that can't be folded for love nor money (I know it sounds bizarre, but someone else is bound to have experienced this) If these cloths are going to do this then they're not worth the money IMO.

Has anyone else tried these cloths?

Can anyone relate to what I'm saying about the cloths that misshape so badly they can't be folded?

I throw mine into a bag which hangs in the cupboard, never folded one yet :rotfl: but the dishcloths I buy usually go a funny shape.
One day I might be more organised...........

Haven't tried them but I know what you mean about dishcloths - the twisting happens because the cloths are made of knitted fabric which is stitched rigidly top and bottom, hence you get a stretchy fabric and rigid ends and therefore twisting

Which is a complicated way of saying if the anti-bac cloths are knitted fabric you will get the twisting effect - I think

I've got these and they're lovely. Like you, I hate my cloths to go out of shape. These don't and last for ages.

Didin't know they were on offer, I'll definitely be getting some more.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Thanks for all the replies - and I'm so glad I'm not the only one to notice this happening to cloths (and to be bothered by it, lol)
I'll certainly be getting these now as I'm sure even I can get by with 10!!

  • Hi,

I am like you in that I er,ahem, fold my dishcloths into a basket I keep in the Kitchen:o

I bought Wilkinsons cheapo Tea towels ( I use as dishcloths)that are 100% cotton, these are woven and do not stretch at all, they don't leave any lint so are good for wiping down work tops or even polishing mirrors, they are multi use and are a good size ( about 24 inches by about 16 inches) best of all they are only 29 pence each:j they still had some last time I looked at the part of the store that sells oven gloves and other ( better quality) tea towels.
I don't like knitted dishcloths and I knew as soon as I saw these, they would be pretty poor tea towels ( being so thin) but oh boy what fabby dishcloths they make:D (They come in blue check, green check & yellow check)

    I really need to get a life......:o
