I made these, using Toxic Lemon's recipe, and they are yummy - best not to count the calories though. (Recipe on an earlier thread about Tray Bakes.) However, I probably should have made half the quantity, as suggested, since there are only 3 of us.
Toxic Lemon - if you are about - is there any reason why some can't be frozen for later use?

The quantities you give in your recipe made, for me, around 24 bars. They are very filling and would make a great breakfast for someone who finds it difficult to make time for this important meal. The ingredients were not cheap, but I used organic (and so they could be made cheaper and still be very tasty and nutritious), and I know that to buy 24 organic health bars would cost a fortune. Also great for after-school snacks, etc. Thanks very much for posting this.0

Sorry, no good at links but here is the recipe (with thanks to Toxic Lemon):
Chewy seed health bars
200g butter
200g golden syrup
300g porridge oats
50g pumpkin seeds
50g sunflower seeds
50g dessicated coconut
50g plain flour
150g brown sugar
150g chopped dried apricots
125g peanut butter (crunchy)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Melt butter and syrup in a saucepan. Add all remaining ingredients into a mixing bowl and pour in melted butter and syrup. Combine thoroughly. Pour onto a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper. Cook for 20-25 minutes in pre-heated 160C oven. Cut into pieces and allow to cool before removing, else they break up.
You can also vary the seeds and fruit used to any of your choice. Try prunes, sultanas, sesame seeds, etc.
(P.S. I used 50g dried apricots and 100g sultanas)0 -
Thanks for that, might make them tomorrow for the packed lunches - i dont have any apricots, do you think mixed nuts would go well? Have loads left over from xmas, could crack open them and add!!!0

They taste fairly nutty anyway with all the seeds and peanut butter but I don't think a few would go amiss (about 50g). Make up the rest with sultanas, raisins or such.0
