Im really sorry, i dont know where to place this question. If you have an interview is it a requirement for the person to contact you and let you know if it was a yes or no an if so how long do they have? I know there is no required responce just for putting a application form in but if oyu have had an interview, surely?!?

Hi Ovetta no there is no requirement for them to tell you even after an interview whether you have or have not got the job. You would hope that they would do so out of manners and courtesy, but unfortunately some employers dont have these virtues. My friend went for a job two weeks ago as a manager of a card shop. They told her they would let her know within 48 hrs, shes still waiting:(0

It can be a difficult one to call Ovetta. The interviewer isn't OBLIGED to notify you about your performance / success; but out of GENERAL COURTESY you'd expect that at the end of the interview, they give you some indication of how many others they intend to interview, how long that will take, and when you are likely to be contacted.
If they didn't have the foresight to think about how you'd be feeling after the interview, and how they could manage your concerns - then maybe you need a rethink about whether this is the sort of company & manager you want to work for.
Good luck; I hope you get what you are after.

A wee story .....
Number of years ago when I was not long out of school, I went for a general position in a local metal plating company, at the time I would have been really pleased to get the job. Was advised I would hear within 2 weeks.
Did not hear from them at all, but managed to bring it up in conversation a few years later when they became one of my suppliers
Was not nasty or anything, they produced decent quality work at a fair price etc. however think I hit a nerve with them.
On the flip side, can be very difficult sometimes to reply to all applicants, especially when there are 10/100's who apply, always find in this case it's best to be up front in the advert and say that unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted, not ideal, but at least honest.
Anyway, best of luck, hope you get the job you are after.0 -
For future reference, it is perfectly OK for you to ask, at the end of the interview, when they will be making a decision. If they say, "by the end of the week" for example and you have not heard by then it is probably the case that you have not been successful - cuts down the wondering time

Depending on how large a firm it was , you could ring and ask them.Even if you weren't their first choice it shows you are still interested in the job. Sometimes the 'first choice' is unsuitable - or even turns the job offer down- so letting them know you are keen enough to ring them may help decide their 'second choice'0
