My daughters ex partner is on ESA and gets Housing Benefit. He has had access to their daughter one night a week on an informal basis for the last year. All of a sudden he has decided to take my daughter to court to get a court order for the access he already has.
If he gets the court order can he claim additional housing benefit etc that he could not otherwise claim without the court order?
We can't understand why he's doing this and extra money/benefits seems the only logical explanation.
This individual would sell his granny for an extra penny.

It may be as a result of recent changes to Housing Benefit that come into effect on 1 Jan 2012. He may be in receipt of HB now but from the 1st Jan if he is under 35 years of age he will be taken off HB and moved on to the shared room rate which means that he would no longer be able to rent on his own unless he can afford the top up. I guess if he has the court order he will be able to prove that he needs to live by himself and not in shared accommodation and seek to claim the discretionary housing payment to allow him to continue to afford his current rent.
That is just one possible explanation....0
