First Timer

Hi Everyone.

I'm a first timer here so be gentle with me.
Have been addiced to this forum for months now and can't believe the amount of fab information and support thats posted here - so thanks.

I've decided that 2007 is going to be the year I pay off some debt (not got an awful lot, but decided that not a lot is still too much).

Currently owe:
Mint Card 463.00
Halifax Card 2250.00
Argos Card 750.00
Next 520.00

Have looked at my SOA and have approximately £400 per month to spare to pay some of these off. During January I paid off my Vanquis card. Only owed £250 so was really pleased with myself. Vanquis phoned me today and offered to up my credit limit and lower my interest rate to keep me as a customer and hey, guess what, I actually said 'No Thank You'. What a massive achievement for me!!!

Last week I took packed lunch every day to work and stayed away from the vending machine. Actually saved close to £20.

Currently work 30 hours per week but upped it to 32.5 per week starting 01.03.07 and have signed up with Quidco.

So I am trying very hard. Think that I may need some support at times though, so hope that you'll all be there for me.

    welcome
i hope you're using the snowballing technique to pay off your debts; i.e. paying the minimum on all the debts except the one with the highest APR ..on that one you pay as much as possible until its clear and then start on the one with the next highest APR etc until they are all paid off.

    Hi Clapton,

Yeah that's exactly what I'm doing. I'd never heard of snowballing until I started reading this site. Its Operation Argos for me at the moment. (Halifax Card currently 0%).

Have also taken some more advice from this site with regards to paying off the Halifax card. As I also bank with the Halifax I'm constantly transferring the odd money from my current accounts (have got 2) into the credit card account. Its amazing how much a couple of quid here and there amounts to.
